Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2, 2026
01Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Chavrusa Rides ("Chavrusa Rides," "we," "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects information in connection with the Chavrusa Rides mobile application (the "Platform").
By using the Platform, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
You must be 18 or older to use the Platform. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
02Information we collect
Information you give us when you apply and register
- Name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Any information you provide in your membership application
- Whether you are a Driver, a Provider, or both
- Gender (used to support gender-based matching preferences — for example, when a ride requires a driver of a particular gender)
Information generated by your use of the Platform
- Jobs you post, view, or accept
- Ratings you give and ratings you receive
- Messages or communications sent through the Platform
- Login and account activity
Location information
We use location information in two distinct ways:
- To show relevant jobs. If you enable location, we use your approximate location to show you jobs near you. You can disable this in your device settings at any time.
- To share your live location (Drivers only, opt-in). If you are a Driver, the app can collect your device’s location in the background. This only ever happens in one of two situations, both of which you control: while you have an active job that requires it — your location is shared with the Provider of that job so they can see the ride’s progress and know when to expect you, and with that Provider only; or while you have marked yourself online — marking yourself online tells us you are working, and your location is used to match you to jobs near you, to let you see and bid on jobs that require location sharing, and to let a Provider you have bid with see how far you are from their pickup. Being online does not commit you to any job. You choose both. You can turn off live location sharing in your driver settings, and you can go offline at any time. We do not collect your location at any other time — not when the app is closed and you are offline with no active job, and not for advertising or analytics. We delete it; we do not keep a history. We store only your most recent position, and we delete it as soon as you go offline or your active job ends, whichever applies. We do not build a record of where you have been.
Photos you provide
- Verification selfie. As part of membership verification, we ask you to provide a photo of yourself. We use it to confirm identity and to help other members recognize the person they are meeting.
- Vehicle photos. Drivers may provide a photo of their vehicle's license plate and vehicle so members can identify the correct vehicle.
We store these photos securely and use them only for identity verification, member safety, and recognizing the correct person or vehicle. We do not use them for advertising and we do not sell them. Depending on where you live, photos that show your face may be treated as sensitive or biometric information under local law; where that is the case, we handle them accordingly.
Purchase information
Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play), through RevenueCat. We never see or store your credit card number, bank details, or payment credentials. We receive only subscription status — whether you are active, what tier, when it renews.
Device and technical information
Device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and basic usage diagnostics.
Customer information Providers choose to store
See Section 3 — this is different from everything above and deserves its own explanation.
03Customer information stored by Providers
This section is about people who are not our members.
If you are a Provider, the Platform gives you the option to store information about your own customers — such as their name, phone number, and address — so you can use it when arranging work.
This is optional. You are never required to store it.
What you need to understand
- You collected this information. It comes from your own business relationship with your customer. We have no relationship with that person and never have.
- You are responsible for it. You are responsible for having the right to collect and store it, and for any consent the law requires.
- It is private to you. No other member can see your customer list. There is no shared directory. There is no cross-provider visibility. There is no export of another member's customer data.
- We do not use it. We store it so you can use it. We do not sell it, share it, market to it, mine it, analyze it, or use it for any purpose of our own. We are a filing cabinet, not a party to your customer relationships.
- We protect it. We apply access controls so that only you can see your own records. See Section 7 for what our security measures include.
- You can delete it. You can remove customer records at any time.
If you are a customer of a Provider and your information is stored here: we did not collect your information, and we do not have a relationship with you. Contact the Provider who arranged your transportation. If you contact us at office@chavrusarides.com, we will work with the relevant Provider to address your request.
04How we use information
We use information to:
- Operate the Platform and provide the service
- Review and approve membership applications
- Display jobs, ratings, and member activity
- Manage subscriptions and verify entitlements
- Communicate with you about your account
- Detect fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms
- Maintain security and prevent unauthorized access
- Improve the Platform
- Comply with legal obligations
05What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or share Provider customer information with anyone.
We do not serve advertising, and we do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
06When we share information
We share information only in these situations:
With other members, as the Platform is designed to work. Ratings you receive are visible to members considering working with you. When you accept a job, the Provider who posted it sees your name and rating. When you browse jobs, you see the poster's rating but not their name until an arrangement is underway. Once a job is arranged, the Driver and Provider are shown each other's name and phone number so they can coordinate the ride directly (for example, to call one another). Members should use each other's contact information only to coordinate the ride.
With service providers who help us operate. We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to run the Platform. They may access information only as needed to perform their services for us, and are bound to protect it. These include Supabase (database and hosting), Apple (app distribution and payment processing), Google (app distribution via Google Play and payment processing), RevenueCat (subscription management), Google Maps Platform (mapping, geocoding, and distance/location features), Expo (delivery of push notifications to your device), AviationStack (flight status information for airport-related jobs), and Resend (sending account and system emails).
When required by law. We may disclose information if required by valid legal process, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or protect someone's safety.
In a business transfer. If the business is sold or transferred, information may transfer with it. You will be notified.
07Data security
We take reasonable measures designed to protect information on the Platform, including:
- Encryption in transit
- Access controls limiting each member to their own data, including Provider customer records
- Access controls limiting each member to their own data
- Authentication requirements
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot and do not guarantee that information will never be accessed without authorization. You use the Platform with that understanding.
Breach notification. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any authority required, as and when the law requires, including under New Jersey's data breach notification law.
08Data retention
We keep information for as long as your membership is active, and afterward as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Ratings and job history may remain on the Platform after you leave. The community's record does not disappear because a member does.
You may request deletion of your account information by contacting office@chavrusarides.com. We will honor it except where we are required or permitted to retain information.
09Your choices and rights
- Location: disable in device settings at any time
- Notifications: disable in device settings at any time
- Account information: update in the app
- Customer records (Providers): add or delete at any time
- Account deletion: contact us at office@chavrusarides.com
- Subscription: manage or cancel through your Apple ID settings or your Google Play account settings, depending on where you subscribed
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — such as to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. Contact us and we will respond as the law requires.
10Where we operate
The Platform is currently offered only in the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States. If we expand internationally, this Policy will be updated.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy. If changes are material, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
